Serve as a Facilitator for LeaderShape (apply in fall semester)
LeaderShape® introduces student participants to various aspects and issues relating to personal and group leadership. Facilitators serve as the group’s resource, catalyst, and coach. Contact Lori Crawford, Assistant Director for Leadership: lori.crawford@uga.edu.
Share your Expertise with IMPACT Service Break (e.g. Public Health, Homelessness & Poverty, Environmental Justice)
The mission of the IMPACT program is to engage University of Georgia students in a week-long experiential service learning project that facilitates a deeper understanding of pressing social issues. Contact Jen Rentschler, Director of the Center for Leadership and Service: jenren@uga.edu
Serve as Hearing Administrator on Judiciary Hearings or Title IX Hearings (both require initial and annual training)
The staff/faculty member works with two members of University Judiciary, a student organization responsible for facilitating the formal hearing process, in the resolution of alleged violations of the Code of Conduct. Contact Barrett Malone, Director of Student Conduct: bmalone@uga.edu
Serve as a Mentor to a Student (requires initial 3 hour training)
A meaningful relationship with a faculty/staff mentor helps students develop a sense of purpose and a sense of purpose helps students persist and be successful in school. Contact Kristine Groft, Senior Communications Coordinator for University Health Services: kgroft@uhs.uga.edu.
Advise an International Student Organization (application, 2-year commitment)
These organizations help promote the ISL values of advocacy, building community, and cultural exploration. Contact Justin Jeffery, Director of International Student Life: jsj@uga.edu.
Serve as a Transition Coach for Student Veterans
The Student Veterans Resource Center (SVRC) offers student veterans access to Transition Coaches. Coaches are experienced faculty/staff who volunteer their time to help student veterans navigate their first semester at UGA. Contact Ted Barco, Director of the SVRC: tbarco@uga.edu.
Serve as a Dawg Camp Namesake
Dawg Camp provides a foundation for a successful college experience. As a namesake, you are one of the first faculty contacts for these students in their early days at UGA. Contact Kaitlyn Shepard, Assistant Director for Student Transitions: kshepard@uga.edu.
Participate in Dawg Day of Service (August)
With a group or a class, join Dawgs Day of Service- UGA’s largest annual day of community service. Contact Amanda Torrence, Assistant Director for Service: amanda.torrence@uga.edu.
Serve as an LGBT Faculty Mentor/Liaison
Faculty Mentors help identify LGBT specific resources within higher education and serve as a connection between their department, the LGBT Resource Center and academia. Contact Chad Mandala, Director of the LGBT Resource Center: chad.mandala@uga.edu.
Host an LGBTRC Lunch with Leaders (provide funding or be a speaker)
The Lunch with Leaders program is an opportunity for students to have lunch and informal discussion with an out, LGBTQ-identified community leader. Contact Rashad Small, Senior Coordinator, LGBT Resource Center: rsmall@uga.edu
Serve as a Safe Space Facilitator (application)
The Safe Space program is a training for those who are interested in learning about gender and sexual identity, and how they can provide support and work toward being an ally for the LGBT community. Contact Chad Mandala, Director of the LGBT Resource Center: chad.mandala@uga.edu.
Attend or Give a Presentation at Tea Talks
Co-present with students on a cultural topic at Tea Talks or join Tea Talks to discuss a diverse range of cultural topics. An assortment of tea and sweet pastries will be provided. Contact Justin Jeffery, Director of International Student Life: jsj@uga.edu
Co-Advise the International Student Advisory Board (application, 2-year commitment)
