Building Up
As we near a full year of disruptions from the pandemic, I have been reflecting a lot lately on the “COVID fatigue” and frustration that I—and I imagine many others—feel. While there are more students on campus this spring, we are all ready for a return to the fully vibrant campus life we know and love.
Yet as I shared with students recently, though we might wish, we are not through the pandemic yet. We must each continue to push through and do our part to keep our campus community safe and well. These are times when we have to be mentally strong and find hope and faith in our future—and each other. It is what the real essence of being resilient is all about.
I know it is easy sometimes to let our exhaustion or anger wear down our willingness to grant grace and embrace our differences, toward the building of shared community. But I trust, as these next few challenging months continue, we will all draw on each other for strength and understanding. We are in this together, and I am assured we will emerge renewed for our bright future ahead. As always, we can choose to build up or tear down. I’m choosing to build up!
